About this tool
Sometimes you just need to look at a PDF; on a machine without a PDF application, a locked-down work computer or a borrowed device where you don't want to install anything. This reader renders the file page by page in your browser with zoom and page navigation, and nothing more.
It's deliberately view-only: the reader never alters the file, and because rendering happens locally, opening a sensitive document here doesn't send it anywhere; unlike "open in cloud viewer" options that upload first and display second.
How to use it
- Upload the PDF.
- Move through it with Prev, Next or by typing a page number.
- Use the zoom menu to read comfortably.
- Optionally re-download the original file when you're done.
Tips
- Reading something you'll need to mark up? Jump straight to the annotator, which is this reader plus highlights, underlines, and notes.
- Very large scanned PDFs render page-by-page, so even hundred-page files stay responsive; pages draw as you reach them.
FAQs
Do I need Adobe Acrobat or any plugin?
No. Rendering is done by JavaScript inside the page; any modern browser is enough.
Can this reader open password-protected PDFs?
Encrypted files that require a password to open generally can't be displayed. Remove the protection in the application that created it first.
Does reading a PDF here modify it?
No. The reader is strictly display; the download button returns the byte-identical original.
Can I read a PDF privately, without it being uploaded?
Yes. The file is rendered on your device and is not transmitted by Easy Edits.
Can I search the text?
Not in the current reader. If you need the text itself, extract it with the PDF to TXT converter and search there.
