About this tool
A PDF stores positioned page content rather than a flowing document structure. This editor rewrites or removes supported text operations from the page content stream. Images mode replaces or removes embedded images, and new text can be placed anywhere on the page.
It's built for local surgery; fixing a date, correcting a name, swapping a logo, deleting a paragraph; rather than rewriting documents. Edits queue in a pending list so you can review everything before downloading once. In rare cases where a piece of text lives inside an embedded object that can't be rewritten safely, the editor falls back to covering it and tells you so explicitly.
How to use it
- Upload the PDF and focus the page that needs changing.
- Click the text to change, then type the replacement; or choose Delete to remove it. The new text takes the original's position and size.
- For pictures, switch to Images mode: click an image to replace it with your own or remove it.
- To add new content, use Add text mode: click anywhere, type, and drag into position.
- Review the pending edits list, remove any you've reconsidered, and download the edited PDF.
Tips
- Expect small font differences on unusual typefaces: PDFs embed only the characters they use; replacement text may render in a close substitute. On standard fonts it's usually invisible.
- For changes longer than a line, edit the source document if you can get it; PDF text doesn't reflow; big rewrites fight the format. Our guide below explains why.
- Verify the edit by re-opening the downloaded PDF and selecting the text: you should find your new text, and no trace of the old.
FAQs
Is the original text removed or hidden?
The matching text operation is removed from the page content stream. Text inside some embedded form objects may require a cover instead, and the editor reports that fallback.
Why doesn't my replacement text match the original font exactly?
The PDF embeds only a subset of each font; the characters it used. If your replacement needs characters that aren't embedded, a close substitute font steps in. This is a limitation of the PDF format itself.
Can I edit a scanned PDF's text?
No; a scan contains a photograph of text, not text. You'd need OCR first. You can still use Add text mode to place new text on top of a scan.
Can I change several things before downloading?
Yes. Every edit queues in the pending list; nothing is final until you download, and the downloaded file is a new copy; your original is untouched.
Does my document stay private during editing?
Yes. Parsing, editing, and rebuilding the PDF all happen in your browser; the document is never uploaded.
