About this tool
Reviewing a document rarely means changing it; it means marking it: highlight the clause that needs discussion, underline the number to verify, leave a note where something's missing. This annotator adds highlights, underlines, and text notes to PDF pages by dragging each annotation into position on a focused view of the page.
Annotations queue in a pending list while you work; you can review and remove any of them before committing; then everything is written into a new PDF in one download. The original layers of the document are left exactly as they were; your markup sits on top.
How to use it
- Upload the PDF and click between pages to focus the one you're reviewing.
- Choose Highlight, Underline or Note/comment.
- Drag the annotation box over the relevant text or area; for notes, type the comment text.
- Repeat across pages; every annotation appears in the pending list, where any can be removed.
- Download the annotated PDF once, with all annotations included.
Tips
- Agree on a color language when reviewing with others; e.g. highlights for problems, underlines for things to verify; so the markup reads at a glance.
- Notes work best short: 'source?' beside a claim beats a paragraph. Longer feedback belongs in the email that accompanies the PDF.
- If the change needed is to the text itself rather than a comment about it, that's the text editor's job instead.

Can I remove an annotation after adding it?
Yes, any time before downloading; every pending annotation is listed and individually removable. After download, the annotations are part of that saved copy (your original file is untouched).
Will the highlights show up in other PDF readers?
Yes. Annotations are baked into the downloaded PDF's pages; they display everywhere the PDF does.
Can I annotate a scanned PDF?
Yes; annotations are positioned visually, so they work identically on scanned pages and digital ones.
Can several people annotate the same document?
Sequentially, yes: each person annotates and passes the downloaded copy on. Annotations from earlier rounds remain visible.
Is the document uploaded while I annotate?
No. Rendering, markup, and the final assembly all run in your browser.
